Gearing up for treasure hunt and the last service of the year!

My goodness, the amount of stuff we bought today was insane haha. About $200 spent at Sheng Siong and a looooong receipt. Repacked the stuff in urban room and we're pretty much geared for tomorrow.

Last service of the year! A lot of people from cell wasn't around today though. Service was centered around 1 Chronicles 16:7 - 36 (David's Song of Praise) and we spent some time reflecting on the year about to pass and the things to give praise unto God for. Needless to say the year has had it's share of disappointments and hasn't been the best of years but it definitely has been one of the greatest in term of the scope of experiences. Stepping into serving in church, H.I.P, the many great friendships forged in NUS cell/leaders cell/NUS, the job at Singapore Medical Council and the great people there, seeing me through another 42.195 and under 5 and a half hours as I had hoped for and of course the ability to bless people with gifts. Going beyond what started as just gifts for Christmas to birthdays and now also out of "fixed events" and more into "everyday life" ? Not really sure how to express what I mean. More spontaneous I guess? Like:
The card to Pastor Michael Ross Watson at Leader's Advance, an MMS to Liane who wasn't too well and decided not to come for the cell Christmas party in the end. Yeah stuff like that, when I don't have the luxury of time to plan and walk around Art Friend to browse for materials and have all my resources of various kinds of paints and brushes, boards to make stencils; the occasional oddity like sand. Just making do with whatever is available and giving my best. I'm soo glad I bought all those colour pens, they have been amazingly useful! Yup, there's definitely SO MUCH to give thanks for this year.

I was quite sad that not many of us were around today since we were going to give the gift to the purple plate family, was hoping Da Lun could be our "spokesperson" since he's usually the one who helps order from them haha. But in the end Gim represented us and gave it to Anders. First he looked pretty shocked at why we were giving him something then as he looked at what people wrote and the line at the bottom "Thank you for all the great food and good times" he started smiling to himself. Hope the whole family will be blessed by the gift =) And Anders mentioned later that he attends saturday service! 4pm maybe?

There's still quite a bit of the finer details of the games I only just tied down, fixtures, score sheets, printing out the game instructions and timings for the i/c's. Have to quickly fill the cans with sand from West Coast Park tomorrow morning before meeting in church at 0930. Guess it's time to catch some sleep and tomorrow it's off to camp!

Oh and yes, a rough first go at working on the blog title:

Cool, found a website http://www2.snapfish.com/welcomenphu that will allow me to do the photo archiving I set out to, and it has unlimited space! I'll probably only be able to finish uploading after treasure hunt though, waaaayyyy too many albums to upload. Need to get some help about HTML and all this widget stuff, my shoutbox is in the wrong place and I have no idea how to adjust it. Going to work on a design for the blog title, need my black book back in hall!

Cell Christmas Party

The cell Christmas party was really great! I think we should use the cell fund to pay for Isaac's afro, it added sooo much life to the party haha. Not to mention complete my 50's old school basketball outfit hahaha.

The role-playing was pretty hilarious especially when it came to Marcus group. You thought his Britney Spears rendition was good eh? Well he definitely showed that he's got more up his sleeve! Cheers to Kristie and Isaac too for being so sporting and dancing for everyone for no apparent reason haha. A great time of friends, food, fun and games! There was caroling too where Wee Kok did a meaningful selection and progression of songs while Michael played for him. After which it was just dessert and chilling. Ben and Eunice were playing the piano and ended up playing chinese songs haha too bad Liane wasn't feeling too well and didn't come, she probably would have enjoyed it. As the night drew to a close it was time to car pool and make sure everyone had some way out back to civilization haha; many thanks to Rachel who gave a few of us a lift and dropped me off at Wee kok's place =)

As a sidenote tomorrow is fire-fighting day for treasure hunt. Going to have to brainstorm the prizes, do our last round of logistics shopping before the camp and prepare the twister mat/COOS squares board. I'll have to exchange with Cheng Hui my computing notes for his EG1108 stuff and go back to hall to pick up my guitar to lend Chong Hao for cell. With all this I have to cancel the morning basketball game with the old Gan Eng Seng gang, though I really want to play with them again; haven't seen Chun Hsien in years man!

Genesis

So I decided to start a blog more to centralise all my stuff, especially my photos (all 3.3GB of them, about a quarter of which is from the 05 Fever trip to East Timor). But I am absolutely clueless about how to do photo archiving. Jian would probably know best but since he's still in the US I'll probably have to check out with Desmond/Cheryl/Liane.

Had lunch yesterday at Ikea and while buying the cardboard boxes for treasure hunt I decided to get two for myself as well, though I probably should have gotten at least one more. Upon reaching hall at night it was time for some housekeeping and "stock taking". Arranged all my spray paints into one box and miscellaneous materials in another. Looks like I am running low on a few colours and fortunately I had enough gold to finish up the mounting board for purple plate (though the little that remained required spraying at some really queer angles). My oil paints, glass paints and stencils could use another box though. Probably get it after treasure hunt when I'm more free; should probably design the boxes to differentiate them and make them look more interesting lol.

If anyone was wondering why I decided to called my blog anomalus scribblings, there isn't actually such a word as anomalus, though there is the word anomalous. I created the word anomalus as a play on the word anomaly ( because I didn't know there was such a word as anomalous) for the name my paladin in World of Warcraft about a year back such I wasn't going to be the typical holy healing pally. So basically anomalus just means out of the norm. While writing is always what comes to mind with the word scribble, it actually covers drawing as well and not just writing so I guess it covered what I had in mind. So I named this blog anomalus scribblings!
